Cedar is the only wood that can withstand the elements untreated.  However, we use an exterior finish to protect the colour from fading over time.  The \u003cbr\u003e\ns\u003cbr\u003e\nShabby frame has been painted a distressed white.  Each little door has been hand painted with acrylic paints.  In this case, the colours are distressed blues, distressed greens, and distressed yellows.  The hardware we choose is either zinc based, copper or bronze.  These metals tend to age nicely over time, adding character to the door.
